Luke 3 verses 21-22: After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
National Directory for Catechesis (USCCB, 2005), Chapter 5, Section 36, A-1. Baptismal catechesis should teach that Baptism gives a new birth to those being baptized in that they become children of God and temples of the Holy Spirit.
Catechesis for Baptism covers many areas. Do I see myself as a beloved child of God? How do I understand the Holy Spirit received in Baptism?
Praying with and for you in this Year of Faith,
NPCD Executive Committee members & NCEA Religious Education Department staff.
